Video: CareerReady Scholar Raul Aguirre

Raul was awarded the CareerReady Scholarship when he was a 2018 high school senior at AAMA Sanchez Charter School. Through CareerReady, Raul was able to complete the A+ IT program at Houston Community College. With the help of his Life Coach, Raul created his resume and started applying for jobs. It was difficult to find a job he was eligible for because he had no work experience. To give him hands-on work experience, Community created an entry level apprenticeship called CareerReady 2.0 in their IT department. This work experience gave Raul the opportunity to shine and improve his skill set. The mentorship he received from his supervisors motivated him to go back to school and further his education. Currently, Raul is a thriving employee in Community’s IT department and is enrolled in

Rescheduled: V is for Victory Virtual Panel

More than 24 million Americans are confirmed positive for Coronavirus, with many million more presumptive cases, and more than 400,000 deaths in the United States. In Houston and Harris County, confirmed cases and deaths are rising and new more infectious “mutant” variants of COVID-19 have been identified. Vaccines are beginning to be available, but some people—particularly in minority communities—are hesitant to get vaccinated. To help provide the information Houstonians and Harris County residents need and can trust, Community Health Choice is convening a panel of local experts for a special virtual event on February 15.
