Scam Alerts! Fake Pharmacy Calls
Beware of calls from a fake pharmacy claiming that they represent Community and wants to offer you free vitamins and medicine if you take a health survey.
These callers may sound legitimate because they know your name or that you are a Community Health Choice Member. These calls are scams. Hang up! They may call from many different numbers. Hang up every time. If they leave a voicemail, do not return the call.
Protect Yourself: Handling Scam Calls
Unfortunately, it is difficult to stop scam calls. Scammers often find new numbers to call from. Do not answer any phone calls from numbers you do not know.
If you do answer the call or if the caller leaves a message, ask these questions:
- Do you have a website where I can find more information?
- Can you provide me the doctor’s NPI (National Provider Identification Number) so I can double-check with my insurance provider for network status?
- Do you have a callback number where I can reach you?
Other things you can do:
- Don’t confirm your personal information if you cannot verify who the call is from.
- Don’t give any personal information.
- Report to Community at 713.295.2222.
- Limit unwanted calls by enrolling in do-not-call lists. It may help, but it doesn’t block all scam calls.
- Enroll for free in the federal do-not-call list at www.donotcall.gov.
- Enroll for free in the Texas do-not-call list at www.texasnocall.com.
- Block their number!
